We are doing an increasing range of our own styles under our label “The Wool Company”. Many of these colour's, styles and fabrics are exclusive to us. We also stock other brands made by New Zealand companies who are committed to manufacturing quality New Zealand merino clothing and knitwear. Some of the key labels we offer are Native World, Optimum, Lothlorian, Koru, Merino Mink, Noble Wilde, Sabatini, Silverdale, Brass Monkey, Duthie and Bull, 70 Mile Bush, Comfort and Humphrey Law Socks.
Our team are here to help you and we are committed to exceeding your expectations in service and knowledge with every interaction you have with The Wool Company. From helping you with sizing and fit, to sharing our knowledge on the benefits of wearing natural fibres, and of course answering any follow up queries you have. Please take a look at our testimonials page as proof of the very many satisfied Wool Company clients throughout New Zealand and the World.
The Wool Company is not a big corporate driven machine - we are a family-owned and operated business who started out over 50 years ago buying wool from farmers. We diversified into selling New Zealand made merino and merino possum clothing online, by mail, and through our Country Store and Distribution Centre in the North Island village of Utiku (in rural New Zealand).
Our company founder, Gordon Riach, established a business as a Wool buyer in 1958. In 1988, The Wool Warehouse was established in the form of a small retail store selling low cost hand knitting yarns to fill a gap in the market place. 1996 saw The Wool Company's very first mail order catalogue delivered to 500 customers. In 2002 a new retail store was built, and The Wool Company was able to start stocking a range of New Zealand made knitwear.
The range continues to grow, as does the customer base. So the family's involvement in the New Zealand wool industry spans more than 50 years and two generations. Our passion for wool and commitment to the New Zealand wool and manufacturing industries are evident in the quality of the range and selection of styles.
Our legal entity is still our original limited liability company Gordon Riach Ltd.
