We have been in the wool industry over 40 years, buying wool direct from the farmers, processing it, and bringing it directly to you the consumer. Our philosophy is to deliver to you quality wool garments and yarns manufactured from New Zealand Wool, in New Zealand. We have been selling wool products by mail for 15 years. In addition to our own label – The Wool Company, we do buy in reputable brands like Native World, Silverdale, Royal Merino, Koru, Lothlorian, Lyall and Scott, Ecology, Zenza and Fiordland to offer you a wider range of product.
All our prices are NZ dollars, if you are placing an order from overseas or shipping overseas, the shipping charges are calculated online prior to the entry of your credit card details. Any additional taxes and duities incurred are not the responsibility of The Wool Company.
We usually respond to messages in 24 hours, and have built our online business around exceptional service (see testimonials). You can always call into our Utiku store. You’ll find us just off SH1, 5 minutes south of Taihape and 10 minutes north of Mangaweka. We are committed to using NZ grown wool in all our products, with our focus being on quality.

Merino Wool
NZ Merino wools are among the best in the world, and this is apparent in the gorgeous handle of the merino products. It’s not like wearing wool at all, there is no prickle, and it’s a natural fibre, so it will breathe. This is the greatest feature in the thermals and lingerie, as wool pulls moisture away from the body keeping you warm (even when wet), dry, and odourless.
Merino Possum Fibre
Merino Possum is unique to New Zealand. One of the warmest natural fibres on the planet - Warmer than wool, and being natural it will breathe, so is suitable for the winter months or on cool summer evenings. Merino Possum is extremely lightweight, non-pill antistatic and luxurious to wear, it has been likened to the quality of cashmere. Merino Possum is natural and exclusive to New Zealand.
Our Guarantee
We are committed to providing you with quality products. If you are not completely satisfied with any product, please return it to us within 21 days of your purchase and we’ll exchange it, replace it or refund your purchase price using the method by which you originally paid - where possible. As always we work hard to achieve colour correctness, this is not always achievable with screens differing in callibration. If you are trying to match colours, please let us know, and we can send you a winding of the actual yarn in the colours you require.
